Teknetics vs Quick Silver?

I have a friend that is offering me his dads old Teknetics. His father apparently got him into detecting and friend has a $1400 Minelab so he is a serious hunter I'm thinking his father is to. He isn't sure if it's a Teknetics Mark 1 or Mark 3. I can't find a model Mark 3 any where. The Mark 1 was built in 1985 very high tech at the time. Teknetics was bought out by Bounty Hunter. I Recently bought (and am still waiting on) the BH Quick silver looks to be made in 2003. Now the Q.S is a much newer model but new only cost me $120.00. I think I might be able to get the used Teknetics for around that to $200. Any suggestions on what one I should get? Or if anyone has even heard of a Mark 3 and could point me the direction as to where I can see some info on it?

The Mark 3 is the economy version of the Mark 1. Less features so less money! Any Treasure magazines from the mid 1980's should at least have some advertisements on it! Contact Keith Wills in Gilmer, Texas www.brokendetector.com He should have parts and an instruction manual for it! The greatest weakest of these detectors are the broken battery clips!! I owned a Mark 1 in its heyday and it was and still is a great detector! JOE
