Default surf detecting & COUPLE OF INCHES IN THE WATER

Is this where a detector will find most rings at the beach? It also seems to be way cleaner than the rest of the beach. I HAD TRIED SURF DETECTING BEFORE AND GOT A BIT DISCOURAGED BUT YESTERDAY FINDING ALL THOSE PENNIES AND HOW EASY IT IS TO RINSE THE SAND WITH THE WATER I MIGHT DO THIS MORE OFTEN. let me know about your experience with surf detecting.

Fox I was told if you go out a few feet there is a trough (like a dip) where the waves break onto the shore. All the goodies get pushed by the waves and deposited into this litte trough. I'm going to buy a Tiger Shark so that I can out out into the water a little deeper without worrying about destorying my dectector............Good luck hunting ...............Doug

Low tide is the best time to go and go out as far as you can. Remember , swimmers need water under them to swim and lose things .Although a few inches are a good place to start , deeper water is where you want ot be.

Default you are right

I think I know exactly where you mean. What derector do you have Dugday? I have a whites dfx and I am going to go on a calmer beach day and take boobie's advice and coveribg my box with a clear plastic bag and that should work fine as long as i do not fall in the water. i was going to get a tiger shark myself and now regret it a bit. they are just 2 different machines that do 2 different functions. i promised myself that i would not get another detector until i get my money's worth out of 1

Ive found that at low tide there seems to be a treasure line about 10 yards from the water line on the beach. On the DFX crank your preamp up to 4, and the AC until you get falsing on the swing. Move your SS1, RS 17 and filter to 3, most of the time it auto balances anyway because of lack of minerals in the soil. If you want some fun play with reverse disc/mixed mode and crank up the DC.

Default Surf Detecting

SURF DETECTING REALLY REQUIRES A WATERPROOF DETECTOR. A lot of rings and jewelry items are found in the 1st and 2nd troughs this is roughly knee to chest deep. There is a lot of opinons on this forum on what type and brands to use so I do not want to get into that debate. Also observe what the other hunters in your area are using and even ask them how they like their detector! Most are very honest and will tell you its good and bad points! Using a land detector in the surf will eventually lead to a Mishap, so now is the time to at least start investigating those waterproof machines!!!....................JOE

Default thanks joe

this is good info. i might mess up by taking my whites to the water. if I get a few bucks I will invest in the tiger shark. I am a bit of a risk taker and might take my whites to knees deep water. I mean it was made to detect partialy underwater. I would not go chest deep with it (not that much of a risk taker. That would be stupidity) but I think with my confidence in balance, stamina, strength and techniques like putting a clear plastic bag, taping and rubber bands on sensitive parts of my whites dfx detector and if I do trip or wave getting me big time I will come out and check my detector just to make sure it's privates are okay. (kinda like Boobie said: he tripped on some water and went detector and everything under completely but he had it taped up with clear bags and it turned out to be okay. I am a newbie at this but read pretty much everything here and really appreciate all of your advices. IF I TRY THIS AND SCREW UP you guys will be the first ones to know then some of you could all laugh at me and I will end up like this .

Default the tiger shark

will definitely be the next detector I will get. Cannot afford it at this time but sure looks like a great piece of equipment especially lifetime warranty. I JUST HOPE MY WHITES WILL GIVE ME A GREAT TREASURE SO I CAN GET THE TIGER SHARK. And I will definitely get it from you Chuck. Thanks.
