Default Probe and Pinpointer

What's the difference between the two? I think a probe can be pushed into the soil without digging first whereas with a pinpointer a hole has to be dug first. Is this correct? Is one more accurate or sensitive than another?

Then I am confused - To me a vibra probe is a pinpointer correct? You do not push the probe into the ground you stick it into a dug hole to pin point where the target is correct? Ws this just a bad choice of words for naming the vibra probe?

Default Your not confused

A probe is a device used to push into the ground to locate a coin, bottle or an old outhouse.

A pinpointer is an electrical device ( minature metal detector ) that is placed into a hole or on the ground surface to search for a target with an electrical signal.

Using it as a probe ( "you may know who I mean " ) may damage it beyond the range of it's warranty.

Thanks Boobie - I had a feeling it was just the choice of words. To me the vibra probe is definitely a pin pointer. JoAnne
