I recentlly inquired about hunting in WV state parks. this was the response:
You recently inquired about metal detecting on WV State Parks. Although there is no direct prohibition in our rules on these we do have a rule against removal of any manmade or natural artifact from park lands. Possession and use of a detector on park grounds would be considered prima facie evidence of attempt to violate that rule and would likely result in a citation being issued. However, in the case of a lost personal possession such as a wedding ring are supts. have the latitude to give permission for such items to be searched for in a limited area using a detector. I hope this is helpful. Ken Caplinger , Acting Chief , WV State Parks. Thought some of you may not have known, (I didn't)
