Default Death Of A Bronco....

.....18 days ago, a 24 year old man..... one who always had a smile for everyone..... one who had a brilliantly promising career in the NFL and one who was a friend of mine, was murdered in a drive-by shooting here in Denver.

Darrent Williams, #27, corner back for the Denver Broncos, after attending a New Year's Eve Party and fund raiser at a local night club, left the club in a rented stretch Hummer limo, with friends and other Broncos in the early hours of the morning, January 1, 2007. Darrent had only 3 minutes to live.

Being in that neighborhood earlier today, I re-traced the Hummer's route of only 4 blocks that night, and took some photos. For what reason, I'm not sure? Perhaps it was a way for me to feel closer to a fallen friend, perhaps as my own private memorial to Darrent.

I never got to know his family, his 7 year old son Darius, or the Mother of his child, but I got to know Darrent very well......for that I am eternally grateful. He was the consumate friend, jokster, and a genuinely warm gentleman!

Perhaps this is my Memorial To Darrent Williams. I just want everyone who I know, to know Darrent......and perhaps say a prayer for his family. Thanks in advance for looking!

That's a very nice tribute to your friend, Chuck.

I watched the game that day and was sad the Broncos missed out (been a fan since the franchise began). Then the unfortunate death of Darrent put the game in its' true perspective-it's just a game.

Sometimes, for some reason, when you play by all the rules, you still end up losing. Such was Darrent's fate. I know he's missed by family, friends, and fans alike.
