Default The day in the life of two metal detecting friends...

Ohiopyle-Rob and I spent the day on Saturday dodging the rain and detecting some old yards and and an old hotel (Fernclif Hotel) in downtown Ohiopyle. There is a lot of history in that town. Rob found a brooch which may have some diamonds in it, not sure if they are real or not, and he found some nice old wheat pennies.

I found a 1904 Indian head penny and a few articles which I am not sure what they are. So get ready pappy cause I am going to be sending you some photos sometime today.
I would like to thank Rob for a great day of detecting and look forward to doing it again...
I will post my finds later today...
Mike

Mike!
Thanks. I had a great time with you and look forward to many more. The history in this town goes back to 1749...Lots of stuff to dig around these old homes!!! I did find out this morning that the broach was real. I dropped it off at the jewelers after cleaning and had them look at it. 4 stones= 1.227 total carat weight!!!!!!!! :D
I went to another old place backj in the woods yesterday. Looks like there were 4 houses. I found an old revolver in the middle of the old lead road to it and an 1891 Seated Liberty Dime and 1899 "beautiful" V nickel and a 1883 Indian head penny!!!!

Default Link to Pa Forts

Ken,

Thanks alot. I live and work very close to some of these places. May even try to go detecting round one of them. Guy I went to school with owns a farm where an old block house used to sit. Nothing left but ruin....could be worth asking him to allow me in.

Default I live near Ohiopyle

Hey guys, if you'd ever care to coach a newbee, I'd love to get some hints and tips from you all, possibly accompany you on a search. I have a site, in mind, too, in case you find it ALL in Ohiopyle! lol It was a chinese labor camp, when the railroad was built.
