Question Computer printers

I was just wondering if anyone here could suggest a good computer printer. It has been so long since I have bought one, I feel out of the loop. What is the current DPI or a good printer?

HP printers are great... Epson also makes some darn fine printers... they rate #1 in my book.

Stick with HP get a Laser, not an ink jet.

Ink Jet prices are very deceiving.

Example.

1. Ink Jet Printer $95.00
2. Laser Printer $250.00

You can print 10,000+ sheets on a laser and never buy a new toner cartridge.

If you tried to print the same number of pages on an ink jet you would have spent $500 in ink.

Plus if you do not use your ink jet often enough the ink will dry up and you are out $45.00 for nothing.

I fill my own laser toner for about $7.00 a refill. A new toner cartage for Lasers costs around $60 to $95 but you can print and print and print.

Don't get sucked in by cheap ink jet printer prices. They will cost you much much more in the long run.

Yes I agree - consider the toner costs. Mine is so expensive half the time I do not have ink in my printer. It is empty as we speak.

I have a HP DeskJet 895Cse and a Dell Freebie. I love the HP the best. It may be a slower printer, but the pics are much better and you don't have to order the printer cartridges from Dell. I would go with the HP. Hope it helps.

For the price, HP tops the list.

For the best print quality, Canon is hard to beat.

If you are considering a Dell, Beware of customer service. It stinks....You have to speak Chinese, Indian, or some other foreign lang. to understand them. Go on line and look at all the complaints. Personally I like the HP's or Epsoms.............Al

Default which printer?

GoldDigger has put it best. I often warn people to check the price of replacement ink cartridges before picking up that great price on a printer. What the consumer often misses here is what GoldDigger has pointed out, "The Cost of Printing" can be much less with the more expensive model, and Color Laser Printers are now affordable.

So, if you do a lot of printing or just a little, compare the cost of printing not just the price of the printer.

Oh, and HP or Epson are both good choices and Lexmark is good as well.
