Default Newbie here

Took me 30 minutes to figure out how to create a new post, pretty bad huh?
Anyway I am getting ready to purchase a new metal detector and am wondering how much difference it is between getting a $250 metal detector like the garret ace 250 or one of the mnay $400-$500 models. I notice that usually the ones that cost $400-$500 have 8 aa batteries , while the garret ace 250 only uses 4 double a batteries, so I assume that means the more $$ ones can find treasures alot better and deeper. I will mostly be searching in fields, woods and mountains. I also am intersted in coins more than anything else. Heck I live in Bedford city Va, home of possibly the USA richiest undiscovered treasure. It sure would be nice to find that mother load(Beale). I would appreciate any advice that any one may have here. Thank you

Welcome to the forum
The difference can be a great deal or a not so great deal when it comes to price. Some detectors are not as good as the Ace250 even though they are more expensive so it really matters what model and brand you are talking about. Generally speaking the more expensive detector will go deeper , be more sensative and be able to go through ground minerals better. First you have to decide on what you want to spend, then where you want to hunt most of the time and last what you want to hunt for. This will help narrow down your choices. Weight can be a factor as well as whether or not you may prefer a target ID or not. Give me a call and I'm sure I can help you in your decision. Have a great day.
