Default Still learning, still confused

Well..........the weather was nice yesterday, so my wife and myself decided to do some "learning" on our detectors. We went to an old house that was left to our children, by their grandfather, when he passed last year. No one has lived there for 20 years, and it is located on a secluded area of 200 acres. The old lady that lived there last was a relative who was considered crazy, so we thought she may have done things like "bury her jewelry", etc.

I had my newly purchased Tesoro Bandido and my wife had the Ace 250 (set to coins). Off we go, scanning the area between the outhouse and the home, all around the home, the garden and storage shed. Plenty of tones, but nothing worth reporting. But (as I stated above), we are learning. I dug everything my Bandido discovered. Digging up old cans, car parts, hinges, a nail, some screws and broken trash bits. The Bandido is deep (some small pieces were beyond what my 8" digger could reach) and my wife rarely got a "belltone" on the Ace.

Though the Ace has the ability to discriminated easier than the Bandido, I could not get the difference in tone sounds on the Bandido, to help me tell if it was junk. I know the disc knob can be turned to different settings, but it does take some time to get used to.

After this outing, I am thinking that I may need to get something with a number display to help me figure out what type of metal lies below. Though the Bandido is deep, and finds alot, I would like to have at least suspected that something may be trash.

Anyways, it was fun, and my wife is enjoying it with me. Just wished I could have shared something with you all other than a box full of trash.

Oh well, theres always next weekend.

Dan
