Good luck with your new SE and Delaware has gotten a taste of real winter the last few weeks. Ground started to thaw and then this cold weather again. Curious how you compare the Minelab SE vs the Garrett 2500. I had a GTP 1350 and now trying to get time with a Sov GT but using an M6 at the trashiest areas of which there are many Good Luck. HH Bill

hey! thanks for the replies everyone! .........bill, my first impression of the se was a good one. keep in mind that i have only used it on about 4 hunts so far, but the first thing i noticed was a big increase in depth over the 2500. i found 2 wheaties and 2 silver roosies at about 8 inches with it during those 4 hunts. with the 2500 it would be rare to dig a coin at 8 inches. the DD coil on the se was a little differant than the coil on the 2500, but it wasnt that hard to get used to . the se has a steeper learning curve than the 2500 however, and i really missed the size feature of the 2500, but the increased depth more than made up for it. the display on the se can be a little tough to read in direct sunlight, even after i adjusted the contrast, but that is a small gripe. one thing about the minelab, is that it is a slow sweep machine. you need to take more time with each swing in order to let the machine process the additional frequencies it is transmitting. if i had a large area to cover and i was trying to find the hotspots within those big areas, i would probably go with the 2500 because you can swing it much faster than the se.once i found some stuff however i think i would grab the se and slow down to thoroughly cover the area. all in all both machines are very nice, and its kind of like comparing apples to oranges, but for sheer depth the se is the clear cut winner.for ease of operation, speed, and discrim capabilities i would say its the 2500. most of the hunting i do is at hunted out schools and parks so i think most times i will probably opt for the added depth of the se, but i am going to hang on to the 2500 as well. i think the two compliment each other nicely.

Default ?????? A silly question

I am wondering if you guys that take several different models and makes of detectors afield use some kind of an oversized arrow quiver to carry them.

Any hoo!
My snow has melted here in "Happy Valley" and this morning I put four new pairs of shorts into the washer because the 40+ degree spring days will be here in a week or so and get out of these *&%@ long pants.

They said on TV last night that we (Pgh,PA) can expect 59 sunny days this year (2007). The average yearly amount of sunny days is about 47 for all year. That gives Boobie and I a few more days of hunting.

I use a Pack Mule when i have 2 minelabs with me

hollowpointred,
Thanks for offering your initial impression on the difference in operation of the 2 detectors. Seems like they offset each other enough to have a good feel when to use one vs the other. HH Bill
