White Sulphur Springs
White Sulphur Springs grew in popularity as a health resort. The town dates back around 1846. Apparently it was very popular by 1880. The community lasted until about 1930. The major attraction was the hotel that drew thousands every summer. The owner J. W. Oglesby was fully invested in the stock market when it crashed in 1929. He could no longer keep the hotel up. A fire destroyed the hotel in 1933.
