Default Ghost town maps as they existed back then.

If you’re interested in finding old town sites or ghost towns as they existed back in the day. Here is what you need. They are called Sanborn Maps. The Sanborn & Perris Map Co.

Go to your local historical society and ask for a town or community’s “fire insurance maps” or the Sanborn maps as they were described to me.

With these you can see what and where everything was located in that particular year. 1880 and 1879 are the dates of the two I have to explore if summer ever comes.
MD’in where the Saloons, Hotels, Stores and oh yeah the Brothels once stood. Knowing where these places were I think will help my chances of finding something neat.

I hope this helps in your hunting.

Rick

Thanks for the info! Sounds like a great idea to me. The research does pay off.

Here is another map program that may help, Beale.
