All detectors were new at one time. They all were the latest and greatest until someone built a different mouse trap. They all have worked well and found plenty of buried treasures of some sort. I’m not one who has to have the latest and greatest of anything. I mostly use my MXT I got in 2008. I have also have a Garrett AT Pro but still like the Whites.
if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I learned how to detect on my first 2 Bounty Hunter detectors. This has been around 2008, and I could be off on what the models were called, but thinking the first detector I used, was one my brother-in-law lent me, and was a Bounty H. 202 ? And the first one I bought was a B.H. Land Star ? I think it was the Land Star that was crappy hunting in the woods, and the ferns would make it go off constantly .
I don't knock the Bounty Hunters. My first serious metal detector which got me back into metal detecting after a 33 year break was a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505. It was a Christmas gift from my dear wife and it resparked my interest in metal detecting. The 505 found more good stuff than all of my previous detectors combined. Then my upgrades from there was to the Bounty Hunter Legacy 3500, Teknetics T2 Classic, Teknetics T2SE and my latest upgrade a few months ago was to a Minelab Equinox 800. I still love to take out my Legacy 3500 to detect once in a while. If nothing else...just for the nostalgia.
