DSCN2016.JPG Image (10).jpg Image (9).jpg On Sunday Sue and I went back to "Carpetville" to see if we could "squeeze" some more goodies out of the ground. We were not disappointed once again at these amazing sites, digging 165 coins.....37 pennies, 3 nickels, 66 dimes, and 59 quarters for a clad total of $21.87. We also dug two pieces of silver, a nice 1950 quarter for Sue and a small, thin sterling ring for me. I also dug the "heartstopper" gold colored heart shaped charm which at first glance had me thinking "GOLD" !!!! but my joy was short lived...it's a junker.:( Carpetville has two fields in town that we've detected and the clad finds are well over $300, plus 8 silver coins, and 5 sterling rings.

We actually stumbled upon this place by chance one day. I had researched a site not far away and the site turned out to be a dud. As we were driving out of the area we came upon an athletic complex in the next town and started hunting it. The fields just kept giving and giving so many coins I nicknamed it the "Clad Carpet". This year we "discovered" a high school soccer field in the same town and have been hunting it and the finds there are plentiful and we're also coming up with silver. We'll be in Carpetville for awhile(y). Somewhat amazingly, it's a town with less than 5000 people.

It's always nice to find some virgin ground. Congrats to you both on another outstanding hunt Ed.

Finding something resembling virgin ground these days is a rarity. What's even more amazing is that the sites in this town are on a main road in plain site.
