Just wondering if there is a work around, on the AT Pro for coal ashes. The village I live in it seems that everywhere around the old houses, that I hunt, people have dumped their coal ashes from the good old days. I get a lot of good signals, but all I find is coal ash. Anything I can do about it or should I just live with it?

You will probably have to live with it. Remember a lot of good things come from the ashes of time.

What does it ring in AS?
    You could Notch it out.
Does it sound off with the Iron Audio OFF ?
    :Do_O:rolleyes::cool:

60 - 80, right in the coin range. Haven't mastered the Pro mode yet, maybe it is different there. Don't use Iron Audio, notch out to 37 when coin shooting. I will have to get back to a hole that I know was all ash and try the Pro mode to see if that helps.

OK, when ya set the Iron Discriminate to 37 or any number,
    That's not notching out.
Notching Out is when you leave some Notches on,
    like Nickles 45-50,
Then notch out like from 55 thru 75
and leave 80 thru 90 ON.
You just turn off certain segments or notches.

This is how I run mine
    in Pro/Custom
    Most of the time
    ;)

Thanks for the help DBG, I will certainly give this a try. I guess I need to push myself to do more Pro Mode.

It works the same way in STD. Mode too.
Also if you find a lot of it in one spot
you can probably Manually Ground Balance it out
    along with a sensitivity adjustment.

Thanks guys ,, I"m definitely going to spend a bit of time getting to know what settings are going to be best for some of the trashy areas that I hunt,, That is ,,as soon as my AT PRO arrives.

Hmmm...I remember coal being delivered to cellar windows in my neighborhood when I was like 6, but I never knew it left ashes...I always imagined it burned away clean...I never lived in a house with a coal furnace, though I have lived in places that had a big old octopus in the basement that had been converted to natural gas...

i remember a neighbor in the 60's burning coal and the byproduct was cinders that came in handy during icy winters. they would spread them in the alleys for traction. forgot to mention the black smoke from their chimney.

That's one of my problems here, finding coal pieces. I guess it's just one of those things from what I am reading so far but it seems even the Ace 250 reads it.
