It was a beautiful day in Long Island, temperature 50 – 51 degrees. Was hunting on the side local golf course, It was a psychiatric hospital back in the 90’s. The hospital was a built in 1898 because NYC hospitals were over crowded. I traded my Ace 350 for an AT Pro because I want to hunt the beaches. I found $.32 cents in clad two dimes and twelve pennies. I also found two wheat pennies 1942 and 1944. I also found a ton of bottle tops, rusty nails, crush cans and pull-tabs. I also dug the item below at about 14 inches; the metal detector was going haywire but gave a couple of strong signals so I dug. If anyone knows what this might be please post, I think it might be a switch of some sort. Thanks.
What ya have there is the Thumb button that came out of a old Bike Handle Bar Bell some what like this one.
Wow, would you know of any resource I might be able to research this item. Boy I would have not guessed a thumb button must be very old it looks like brass. Thanks for the help.
I've gutted more then a few of them as a kid. LOL http://images.google.com/search?sou...0&bih=750&sei=na0kT8-sJaXSiAK215n6Bw&tbm=isch
fyrffytr1 It measures 5 1/2” long by 1 1/2” the widest point. Any ideas are appreciated, did searches on Google found nothing like that. Going out to the same place today. Thanks.
That makes sense HF. I have never seen the insides of one but the hole for a pivot point and the stepped edges for the ringing as it goes around makes sense on how it would work. Is there anything you haven't taken apart?
