Found An Axehead

#1
HI EVERYONE, I WAS BACK AT THE DENTIST BLDG. A COUPLE DAYS AGO AND WAS USING THE CORTES. EARLIER I HAD FOUND A SMALL METAL DISH WITH AN ENAMELED FINISH ABOUT 8" DEEP AT THE BASE OF A MESQUITE TREE BEHIND THE DENTIST BLDG. USING THE CIBOLA. THIS TIME I DUG A VERY OLD AXEHEAD WITH A SINGLE BLADE. IT WAS ALSO ABOUT 8" DEEP. IT HAD BEEN IN THE GROUND SO LONG THAT THE IRON WAS FLAKING OFF. THIS IS LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN SWEETWATER,TX. ACROSS THE STREET FROM WHERE I WORK FULLTIME. THIS AREA IS SO OLD THAT THERE IS A SMALL ROW OF ROCK BLOCKS PUT TOGETHER TO FORM A SORT OF CURB. THERE ARE IRON RINGS THAT WERE IMBEDDED INTO THE TOP OF THESE BLOCKS SO YOU COULD TIE UP YOUR HORSE! I WOULD SAY THIS HAS TO GO BACK TO AROUND 1900 OR A LITTLE EARLIER. THERE WAS PROBABLY A BUSINESS OF SOME SORT AT THIS SPOT BACK THEN. WHAT IS AN ALLEY NOW USED TO BE A MAINSTREET WAY BACK. I HAVE USED MOST OF THE TESORO'S TO DETECT THIS GROUND.

I HOPE THIS IS INTERESTING AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING THIS SITE OFF AND ON FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW. I KEEP GOING BACK BECAUSE I KNOW THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMETHING I MISSED. OK THANKS EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS.

Hi Bill, actually I leave most all my finds original condition. I like the old look. I went out to the old stage stop awhile ago but no luck this time. The broom weeds have gotten so thick can't hardly swing my coil Bill. I did go to the big farm further West to look for arrowheads and relics but only found modern bullets. Ok Bill chat to you soon and God Bless ya and get well my friend!
