Getting permission before the hunting.

    Ok newbie ? but I have many local old train yards,tracks etc will I have any poblems with RR pd or local pd with just walking the yards,tracks.I have been looking but no one seems to be around.
    Any advice before I step into something I will regret?

    I would ask to be sure. If the rail yards are active as in trains still using them I would say permission is unlikely due to a liability issue.

    Look on the net for info to the local office and give them a call...

    After working at CSXT for 43 years, you will find RR police. They have a real issue with people in the yards since 9-11. Plus there will be tons and tons of scrap metal on the ground, tie plates, spikes and scrap steel from carloads of junk.

    If you go detecting in Canada...no worries,and no permission needed.
    Just as long as your really close to the baorder....You can run for it''

    Man, the more frustrated I get with looking for places to hunt, there is a thought that keeps running through my head, "It is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission!" o_O

    "SOMETIMES" IT'S EASIER TO GET "FORGIVENESS" THAN "PERMISSION"

    Any moving trains or their cars = danger to great to risk imho.
