IMG_0383.JPG IMG_0384.JPG IMG_0385.JPG The first two pics show both sides of something I dug a couple years back. It seems to be copper brads attached to a dried up piece of leather. Third pic includes some recently found, only difference is smaller brads. Wondering if anyone knows if this was part of mans adornment, or more likely decoration on a horse bridle?

I think they are furniture tacks from a leather chair or sofa.

I agree with the chair tacks. Nice find.

The more I think about it I disagree with the chair tack notion. A tack is just that. It has a sharp pin in the back to be driven into the frame to hold the ends of the covering in place. I have seen and replaced a few of these on furniture I once owned. Plus I showed this to a friend the other day and the first thing he said was "a headstrap from a horse bridle" Sooo?

You think it would be possible to go back and see if there was anything you missed that might be of help?

You could very well be right about the horse tack. That didn't even occur to me. But, you can also get chair tack strips and that is what I had in mind, not single tacks. Also, the size is what made me think upholstery.

Reminds me of some leather horse tack I have seen before.
