Do you put your name on your metal detector? If do then whats best way to do it? I plan go to Minelab Event this Saturday and I bring my Minelab Safari. I am afraid that someone might steal my metal detector. I cant afford other 1000 dollars metal detector. Thank you!

I think most people going to Minelab day are pretty honest and won't take what isn't theirs. However that being said there are always a few bad apples in the bunch. I would put your name inside the battery compartment and "decorate" the detector so its pretty identifiable. Just don't let it out of your sight and lock it up if you need to be separated from it for any length of time.

I agree with Andi on this..been to 4 different hunts and was impressed by the folks there..most were TQer's, which I consider family, but was not worried...I think you will be OK...Chuck.........:)

Paint it pink and only a few folks would even think about steeling it...lol...:p
If you put your name anywhere on it, I would suggest inside the battery compartment on the side that faces UP...this way, the average Joe who takes it is never gonna see it there, but you would be able to tell the POPO where it is...Imagine the look on a theifs face when he is outed by your clever use of tape and perma markers...:D
DO NOT do anything permanent to the machine, as if you want to sell it later, most folks would not want your name on their newly aquired machine...
For decoration, I would get that grip wrap they use on tennis rackets and wrap it around the shafts...Make it easy to spot...Use bright colors

If you paint it pink, don't let Indy see it.

Finding a good, out of the way place to mark your machine is a very good idea. It has me thinking.;)

you can use an electric engraver on a plastic or metal piece if you plan on keeping your detector for some time. It wont wash or scrape off.

A picture of you with the metal detector is a good idea...maybe a sticker on the outside for a fast ID!...
Have a fun time at the detector hunt! :)
