I went to see the orthopedic surgeon today and, long story short, I won't be getting a Deus anytime soon. We are talking about fusing four vertebrae i my neck and three to five in my lower back once I recover from the neck surgery. I have to go back for MRI's as soon as Worker's Comp OKs them. Then we will decide on a definite course of action.

Talk about a turn of events! The surgeon told me that the surgery was entirely up to me. I have to weigh the outcome against the surgery itself. I could get better, stay the same or get worse. I have a lot of thinking and praying to do.

FF1, I am late seeing this post. Praying for you on all counts, the surgery, the decision for surgery or not, and for the full recovery if the decision is made to go ahead with the surgery. I know this has to be tough weighing on you. If I could make this one suggestion, consult with "The Great Physician". I know you have. He will steer you in the right direction as he knows what will be best for you. We will all keep you and your family in our prayers. Once you are better, the Deus will further help in your rehab swinging, as it is lighter. Stay strong, and keep the faith.

Lots of prayers going out for you and your family. If it helps any, you are not alone. If you ever get bored, or just want to talk to someone, feel free to pm me anytime.

I have decided not to have any surgery. I can live with the way I am now. But, I will also not be getting the Deus anytime soon. I lost permission at the best site I had to hunt. Actually it is about the only site around here worth hunting. Hopefully, the farmer will change his mind and allow me back on his property one day.

Hang in there FF1. First things first. First and foremost, get yourself to feeling better. Maybe you can find some sort of treatment that you can undergo without the need of surgery. If the farmer changes his mind and allows you to hunt his property, well you still have your White's and you will then be ready. Once your better physically, you can decide on what to do about the Deus.

I have been through more than two years of treatments from physical therapy to steroid injections to nerve burnings. Surgery is my only remaining option. The other treatments have helped some. Surgery would mean that I could no longer do the work I am doing so that is not a viable option for me. On the + side I haven't taken a pain pill in over a month although at times I have wanted to. I have taken 3 Advil at a time but only on rare occasions.

Well' after over 3 1/2 years I finally had c5-c7 in my neck fused on march 5th. I am already feeling better. So, I am once again strongly considering the Deus. I can get one with a choice of one of three coils, 9" 11" or the 9" elliptical. To those of you that use the Deus what would you get? How much depth do you get with the 9" standard coil? The dealer I spoke to couldn't give me an idea of depth because of so many variables but he did say that the 11" would get me about 20% more than the 9". My concern with the 11" is being able to hunt in heavy undergrowth.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I cannot put everything down that I would like to say because I’m getting to pack however the one thing I have been told by dealers and everybody is not to get the 11 inch less you want to continue to dig bullets at 15 inches LOL

Well, the Deus is on the way. Hopefully it will be here by Friday. I got the WS5 full headphones and standard 9"coil. I do some woods hunting is why I opted for the smaller coil.

Congrat's FF1 on the Deus. Everywhere I see that folks are doing well with the Deus. I'm still tossing around the idea in the very early stages, of getting the Minelab Equinox 600. It appears to be a little more user friendly. I like simple or simpler. Anyways, I wish you nothing but the Best of Luck with the Deus with Many Relics to come your way.....just save us a few. Let us know when it arrives and what you think of it. From what I've seen and heard you are going to love it. Calabash Digger has got a new video out on Utube with a new relic program for the Deus. Great information. Check it out if you haven't already seen it.

I was also leaning towards the Equinox 800 but according to the dealer I got mine from both the 600 and the 800 are on at least a two month back order. I looked at the 600 but the wireless headphones and extra programs in the 800 had me going that way. If there had been an 800 available this morning I would have bought it and maybe gone for the Deus in a few months. As it is I may still get the 800 after they have been out a little while. All this after being with White's for the last 40 years!

Whites is still a great manufacturer of detectors. I don't know if I'd ever part with my MXT. I'm just wondering if the Equinox would give you a little more depth for relics. I'm glad you have a Deus on the way, and I'm glad you have sprung back and are able to swing the Deus. From what I have seen, it is a beast for relics.
