Hello all,
Thought I'd post pics of a few of my finds from here in Maryland. The largest point in the bottom left corner of the second pic is the first point I ever found. It all went down hill from there! ![]() Enjoy! Bill |

I believe it has to do with the geology of the particular area and/or what the maker of the implements had to work with. There isn't to my knowledge any of the material for making the finely knapped points we would all like to find in all areas (New England for instance is mostly harder material dificult to work). Although from what I understand there was quite a bit of trading done with other areas of the country. Some of the points in my collection are made of material traced to Pennsylvannia and Ohio. I've heard that archaeologists in Ohio have found shark teeth from Calvert Cliffs in burials and such out there. I too have some of those cruder points and I've noticed that for the most part the crude ones are made of hard to work material (quartz).
