Default Is This A Netsinker?

Hello I found this in a cornfield it is about 3 inches long by 2 wide. It is very shiny black rock. The sides look like they have been chipped away. I have found a few netsinkers before but never made from such a shiny smooth rock. This baby is smooth.

What do you think?

It looks like a peice of Banded Slate. We used to find oddities like that from time to time out arrowhead hunting. We never really knew what they were for sure and usualy just reffered to them as Mother In Law stones. LOL

Just a few questions:

Is it heavy?
Is it magnetic?
Is it metalic?

What's a netsinker, something to sink a trawling net?
