Default anything? part I

Is this anything or is it a natural formation?
Found in galveston. It looks shaped, but could be natural.
Always hope to find something as the Karankawa Indians lived in this area.
The item is sand. Sandstone?

Thankyou for any help,

Doug

I am guessing that it is natural formation. Usually the tools were made from the harder rocks. But I could be wrong. Thanks for posting.

Thought about that. But I also thought that maybe being around sand this would be used by tribes living in and around beaches and such areas.

It would be worth having someone look at it that knows.

Thought I would post and share the 2 items here first.

There is a small museum on Galveston that I like to go to. They have some Karankawa Indian items and recreation of a tent and their items for daily use. I'll take them there if no one knows here.

Thankyou for your help.

Doug

My guess would be that this is from natural formation....Indian tribes especially in the North regions here very rarely messed with sandstone but it's just a guess....hope you find out what they are!?!?

Appreciate the reply.
It might be just more hope than actual artifact. Always looking for something that looks different and could be a possibility.

Thankyou,
Doug

Even if there not artifacts they are nice. I don't know a lot about them But I do believe the would have chip marks on them. The ones I have all have grooves and are chipped to make a point.

True. But I thought possibally the sandstone would wear smooth in the sand and water erasing the tool work.
