Default Indian Artifact???

Hello. I found this out in a cornfield near my house. I do find alot of indian artifacts there but have never seen anything like this. It is 2 1/4 Inches Long By 1 1/2 Inches Wide. It has aparant finger marks in it. And it writes like a crayon. Also has a black spot on the edge like it was used for drawing and is flat in that spot. Can it be a indian writing utensil. It is a pretty hard rock but writes very easly.

I have seen one of those before. Give me a day or so to figure out where and I'll see if I can find out what it is. I have a friend who has a huge collection of indian finds.
