Default bannerstone

I found this bannerstone about 50 years ago on a washed-out creek bank in Indiana. Does anyone know where I can send this to get it authenticated? I am thinking about selling it and feel that I can get more for it if it has an authentication certificate with it. Bannestones were placed on the atalatl, a spear thrower. (Thanks to WVATom for explaining it's use).

Lightbulb banded slate from indiana...

it was used as a weight on a atalatl// spear thrower. was not on the spear.spear would have droped to much with the extra weight. i have a broken gorget made from the same material.

Probably Adena,Hopewell or Chahokia moundbuilders. be careful who you take it too. pics of different ones can be found in the book," Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley." page 218. one is very close to yours.

how much do you want for it? let me know cause you got a buyer right here. i do not resale them but study and show them.
They torn down the mounds here and i am trying to build a moundbuilder collection.
