Default A few more pics

Hi everyone,

I figured I would post a few more pics of finds. I spoke to the owner of the fields that I hunt and he said that he will be plowing the last of march. I can hardly wait! These fields were owned by my grandfather back in the '70s and '80s. He was the one who got me started hunting arrowheads. The present owner bought the farm after my grandfather passed away. I thought my arrowhead hunting was over with at that point. The new owner was a neighbor of my grandfather's before he purchased the farm. He and my grandfather were pretty good friends. One day, I asked him for permission to hunt arrowheads and he told me that I had permission to do whatever I wanted to on the farm. He and I have become good friends since then. He will see me walking a field and pull up on his tractor or in his truck to talk and see what I have found. During the winter, I'll go over to see how he's doing and just sit and talk about whatever. Can't beat this at all. I can still hunt arrowheads on my grandfather's old farm and I have gained a friend. Definitely a win-win!

Thanks for looking!

Brian

Wow!! Brian you have some great points! Where are you located to find such great points? I really like all the colors and styles.

I have not been arrowhead hunting since I was a kid. My dad has a nice collection. All of our points were found around southeast Va. Good hunting, Beale.

Hey Beale! I live in Central Kentucky, just south of Lexington. There were many buffalo trails that came from Tennessee and went right through my area and then went north. There are lots and lots of springs in this area along with creeks and rivers, so there was plenty of water for the indians.
The fields that I walk have lots of flint and chert lying around. There are many colors of flint and chert mixed in here. Sometimes you have to walk pretty slow so that you don't get "snowblind" with the flint and miss a point. This might have been a quarry site at one time. There are a lot of good sites to hunt in this area. The only problem is farmers are quitting tobacco and going to no-till with corn. This results in many sites becoming hayfields. I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can.

Thanks for posting!

Brian
