Default What a weekend I had!

Took off last Thursday to go down to Aurora, North Carolina to volunteer at the Aurora Fossil Museum before making a trip into the PCS Phosphate mine with a group from the Friends of the Aurora Fossil Museum.

We spent Friday morning with a large group of 1st graders in the reject piles out front of the museum showing them how to spot the smaller sharks teeth and id'ing them for the kids. Then worked with a group of other volunteers in the afternoon spreading mulch out front in the park. I watered plants, packaged up museum brochures in the late afternoon and mopped the floor in the meeting room. Then it was time for SATURDAY!

The group met up at about 7 the next morning. Time to greet old friends, meet and make new ones and get prepped for the first trip into the spoils piles this spring. I guess Karma was paying me back for all the mulch spreading and floor mopping the day before. I had a very good day collecting. The first pic shows the larger teeth I found 5", 3" and a 2" megalodon teeth and a couple of nice Mako teeth on the bottom left. Pic 2 shows a whale ear bone or bulla and couple of vertebrae from shark, tuna and marlin. The last pic shows a pile of broken pieces and misc. bone and teeth that I'll package up with other material to sell as aquarium substrate. My first trip of the year was a great one! Looking forward to more good days like this!

Great finds!! I would have walked right over all but the sharksteeth! Your good deed was rewarded, Beale.
