Default big heart brakes

i always wonder what happen to this points, this are my biggest broken point some of them look like they were 2 to 4 inches long, guys and gals what are your thoughts?

It would have been nice if they could have stayed intact! I usually find about 15 - 20 broken one for every whole one in my area. A lot of times there are impact fractures just like others have said. In my area, the tractors break a lot of them when plowing. Did these come out of a plowed field or were they found naturally on the surface?

Thanks for posting the pics. You've got a really nice collection!

Thru the years I've found dozens if not hundreds that look like those. Like what I have found it looks like several differnet types are represented. I have thru my own obsevervations of those kinds of finds thought some were ancient breaks and some were more recent possibly from farm equipment.

The second one from the right in the bottom row looks like the bottom of some type of adena or turkeytail. All very interesting to look at tho.

so these weren't found in a plowed field? then if that is the case i have no clue what could of happened....I know where i hunt in Ohio i only look at plowed fields along the river..but great collection!
