Default What could this have been used for?

I found this last year, and it's exactly a foot long, and made out of what appears to be soapstone. I don't think it's a mortar stone?

Looks like it could be a pestle. Does the fat end look worn at all?

The fat end does show some signs of hand working. I'm no expert, but always thought "mortar and pestle" meant the mortar was the piece used to do the hammering/grinding, and the pestle would be the bowl, or dish shaped piece. I guess I was going by the term "mortar" sounding more like the thrusted piece. Soapstone is kinda soft, so I wouldn't think it could take alot of rock-to-rock action, but maybe it was used against wood? I really don't have a clue what this was used for. It definitely was used for some type of purpose, though. Maybe a prehistoric "billy club", or blackjack. I guess they knew that in a couple thousand years it would be something to make us ask questions........

Thanks for the comments. I'm gonna just call it an Indian Whatchamacallit. I guess the only person who really knew what it was used for would be the one who made it, and they ain't talkin....
