Hi guys and gals...

Thanks for the replies. That was Jacob's first found arrowhead. I he is almost 13 now, so pre-teen, and I kept pestering him to get a feel for what he was thinking. He did exclaim "I don't believe it" when he first saw it, and Sarah and I went running (as best as we could with ten pounds of mud stuck to each boot.

He really had no idea about the age of it, or the real significance of a man 3500 to 5000 years ago, with no written language, chipping flint (or chert) arrowheads so that he could make a weapon to hunt with to feed his family. Further, it had not occurred to him that he was the first person to see that person's craftsmanship in several thousand years.

I explained this to him, and he then was a bit more impressed, I think.

The only thing I wish is that Sarah had found one too... but I told her that she will have her day in the sun.

Robert

Congrats to you for getting the kids out hunting. I am 50 and still remember my first point find. I know that Sarah will have her find soon. Tell Jacob congrats on the find.

Good way to teach so many things to young people today. Good on you, Beale.

I really like that picture of it before it was picked up, because I always look at a point before touching it and reflect on the fact that the last person to touch it before me was probably an Indian. Where else can you experience that? A great find! Congratulations to y'all!
