Wow, that is something! Beautiful. Maybe some type of prayer stone or used in some type of spiritual ceremony? As for age I would guess 1500 years or less. I really don't know but from everything I've read and seen larger, more intricate pieces like that tend to have been made in more "modern" times.
You might go to a library in the area and see if there's anything about indians/tribes in that area. I know nothing about laws in that area so you might check into those before taking it to a museum or historical society. Good luck and keep us updated. |

wow, it looks like a relic to me. Make sure that its not made from cement and if its carved from stone I would take it to your nearest Early American Museum. Nice find for your friend..
I know most people would keep it cause they found it but if it serves a better purpose in a museum to teach generations to come then so be it. I believe relics should be in museums and not in the hands of rich people that just want a conversation piece to show off to their friends but have no idea what they are showing...

Probably made of stone check this history out.
History of Hurley, NY Hope the link works, if it doesn't, just copy and paste. I would also look up the history of the land. We have a GIS mapping system that we can look on here that will give pics and some property info. He may be able to look at the sattelite pics and see if there are any variations in the land, or just use google earth. Good luck. Sabrina |
