Default Last of the big Adena mounds in my area..

only 1 whole one and a half of one are known to be left. may be some other small one's or even a big one's left but I dont know. Made by the Adena culture during the woodland era.
This was made by basket's filled with soil. That is me in front of it for context.
What a terrible shame that the others were destroyed. The Peabody museum at Yale and the Smithsonian have alot of these artifacts now. W.Va has little to show of these great people now.

3rd pic is my only find today other than a hammerstone, found as you see it in the pic. Buffalo Stemmed, middle archaic,6000 - 4000 B.P.

Default Greg,if you ever get the chance...

go see the mound and museum at Grave Creek,Wheeling,W.Va. It is a much bigger mound with some nice displays. Should be a fairly short drive for ya and worth the time.

Pat,i would like to see a pic of those mounds anytime you get the chance.
