The mounds around here are not as big as those. If i get a chance i will take some pics and post later. I have found a lot of points near them. 1 or 2 miles away. One farmer said go and see if you can find any i notill and have for years. We found 10 in 2 hours.

They are beautiful mounds. I saw them once many years ago before I appreciated what they were. I'd love the chance to see them again. Lots of nice Mississippian points to be found in your area. Good luck.

Terri - do they still operate the "Whitewater Canal" hiking trail there? We used to hike that trail all the time in scouts when I was a kid...

Im not sure Shawn,but I'd imagine they do. I'll check for you. It is a very interesting place , I just love it. The locks on the canal are supposed to be fully functional now

Thanks, Terri - I remember that a good deal of the trail actually followed the canal (the right side of the picture of the canal boat might be showing a bit of it). Somewhere in my great stash of childhood memorabilia, I'll bet I still have a trail patch from one of the hikes...aaahhh - the good 'ol days!
