I sure wish we didn't have them around here! Let us know if you find anything!

Happy hunting!

Cool Look for the spots where the

small rock's gather when the water is high. In the bends, gravel bar, bank. I know where to look but have not had any luck in a creek yet. Hop in your car or plane and come on down. I can get you started. October till April is when I find the most but find my best stuff by the Kanawha River in summer.

Default Creek Finds

I have walked many miles of a creek in my area. The area is rich with Indian Artifacts. I have walked many miles of this creek and I have not found anything in the creek. What am I doing wrong? I have even ranked the sand bars with a rank and I have still found nothing in the creeks. You can dig under practically any rock cliff or look in any plowed fields and find plenty of arrowheads. Why can't I fine anything in the creeks? What am doing wrong? Johnray

Default Very nice Pat !

I dont think Eric needs to worry to much about snakes around these parts ! Mostly garter snakes and red belly racers thou there are some timber rattlers in some areas, wich are protected by laws. Eric most arrowheads in NY are made of flint so look for that. You should cheak any piece you see as i have found them were only a small piece is visable, the rest being buried. The ideal spots are plowed fields along the rivers.Do some research on the indians in your area, and ask around most farmers dont mind you looking and can tell you the best spots to look. Also its not a bad idea to bring along your detector as there is always the chance of finding coins etc.that were traded with the indians.( i know a lady that found a spanish piece of 8 while looking for artifacts) good luck and keep us posted !

Very nice points Pat. After finding my first, and yes they do kind of stick out when you see them, my eyes are now glued to the ground when I'm out walking.. That and the fact that we have rattlesnakes, neighbor had a 4 footer wander through last year. Bob
