Rips right Tom, we go to that beach (Popes creek) every year. You can find us there from July 10 to the 16th every summer.
Found lots of shark's teeth there. My daughter a few years back found a nice piece of dinner plate there and I believe it to be from Washington's time period as it is simular to what they have on display. I'll see if I can find the pic. Hey Rip, We camp down at Outdoor World (on rt 3)just 2 miles from Washington's birthplace and 7 miles from Lee's birthplace. Them people down there know me by name If you haven't seen these from a few years back then take a look. http://www.treasurequestxlt.com/vacation.shtml |

what are called crinoid stems, can't be for certain though unless I seen them. Tom, I dug plenty of fossils heading east on 68 from Morgantown in Maryland, thinking Fredericksburg area but not sure, would have to pull old log book out from attic, will look for it while I am up there this weekend. There were several trilobytes and brachiopoda fossils found, just digging on hillside on 2 lane road, I will try and run down some info on it if you are interested.--Also, if anyone is out that way, there was an old guy with a rock shop outside of Tucson AZ that had enough fossils and mineral specimens to make your mouth water, everything from Dinos to plants and all types of minerals, reasonable prices but then again that was 6 years ago couldn't tell ya if he is still there or not.
