Nice finds but your stone is not a hammer stone....probably a pitted stone but definately not a hammer stone.

Hey GoldFever,
Nice finds there! It appears the Celt (2nd picture) has been broken or it has a void where it will break! How big is this blade/celt?
Not trying to be rude but around here most of the hammer stones are made of flint (chert) but all show obvious usage from where it has been used (chipped marks completely around it). The stone you have shown in the 3rd scan appears to be what I call a natural river rock. This is my opinion from what I've found here in Tennessee.

Nice Finds Never-the-less,
Continued Good Luck, HH, Roger

No offence taken. The celt isnt broken but is cracked all the way around. It is about 5 inches long. What was it used for? It is the first one that I have ever found. The thing I thought was a hammer stone has indents on both sides. Feels like finger holes. I have found a few like that. Dont know though. You are right I am sure. A guy that lives locally and collects artifacs said he thought it was a hammer stone. Thanks for looking and keep the comments coming. I am going out tommarow. I will post what I find if it is anything.
