Default Todays Artifacts

Hello. I went artifact hunting. Here is what I got. Arrowheads, A pestle, a net sinker, and a few pitted hammer stones. Had an awsome day. The orangish arrowhead is the only one I have ever seen that color here in NY. The pestle is perfectly round like a rolling pin although the pic didnt come out to good. Some one said in the last post I posted that the hammer stone wasnt one. I since had them checked and confirmed by a member of the Bard College archiology. And also bought the book The archaeology of New York State. And they prove to be pitted hammer stones. I can scan a pic of the page if anyone wants. Thanks for looking.

Nice finds and glad to hear You had a Good Day! As stated before, the hammerstones I find here in Tennessee are made of Flint (Chert) and were used to make arrowheads and other Flint items. The hammerstones you are finding must have been used for something other than making Flint items.

Continued Good Luck, HH, Roger
