Looks like an old pottery bowl

or an old ashtray

for a peace pipe

Its a stone bowl

hey tater, would this be used for water or crushing corn or grain.

The bowl is rather deep as opposed to the metate which have a rather shallow depression. In my opinion it appears that this bowl was used for water.
