Default Axe Head

Hi All!
I'm a newbie (poster and digger)
and would like a few opinions on this axe head.
I found it yesterday while digging for arrowheads along the Ohio River on the West Virginia side. It was buried about 6 to 8 inches in the bank. It measures 2 1/2" long. The grooves are faint but present and go all the way around it.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any good sites with good pictures of axe heads in which I could compare it to or maybe someone would know a little about this axe head?
Thanks!
Sandy

Nice find! Thats called a full groove axe and is anywhere from 4,000 to 1,300 years old. These are found much throughout the U.S. but I have been collecting indian artifacts for nearly 20 years and have yet to find a full groove axe. Although they are found throughout the U.S., they are still hard to come across. Below is a website that may be of interest to you. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the info Tater_nutz!

I just started digging for artifacts here and there for the past couple weeks now.
I have only found 2 broken arrowheads and this axe head. (Well....., and a nut shell that I really don't want to talk about... LOL!)
I am interested in starting a collection of my finds and would like to have each (good one) authenticated.
My next question is....Where do I start?

either it was a very small dinosaur or this is a "dino dingleberry

seriously though, it does look like it could be a piece of Corprolite.
I think my dinosaur had worms or sumthin'
