is this normal

I was at an old ferry landing site to MD, found multiple holes 15 plus, like someone was digging foxholes, not much deeper than 2 1/2 foot or a little more didnt measure. anyway I was told who did it and why they said he dug for arrow heads and did well till property ownner stopped him. Question: in my area most collectors go for the freshly tilled farm field next to our streams ... those of you who go after the arrow heads is this a typical way of getting them? Digging like this

no I understand he was acting carelessly, was wondering if those that hunted the arrrow heads usually do so much digging, and this was not easy digging, thanks look forward to those with experience comments

Have never dug for arrowheads,, that is hard work, ,have found them digging a signal tho

Digging is how I found almost all my indian artifacts. Thats the way I normally find them and I have been quite successful, of course however, I always fill my holes back up.
