Default Arrowhead Question

I am living in tennessee now. I have been collecting some of the local arrowheads. I have found some that are not flaked on both sides. They have a flat side and on the other are worked like a arrowhead I am used to seeing. I have never seen these before. In wyoming they always had both sides of the arrowhead worked. Is this a fake? I only have found 5 of these here.

HI, I live in Oregon. I have found several large arrowheads like this. They were used for tools, like opening clams or scraping hides. These were about 3" X 1 1/2. Not sure if they were small ones

Hi Guys

I have done most of my point hunting while in oregon.

I think didijim has made a good suggestion as to what you have ,, but if you could post a picture it may be better to help Identify but from the description it sounds like a scraper or other type of tool.

I don't have a way to post a picture right now. But when I get it I will. The arrowheads are just that. Arrow points that fit on a arrow. Too small and look like a arrow point. With the end flaked out to twist your sinue onto the shaft to hold it.

Shadowwalker,
If you are near the Clarksville, TN area I recommend you join the Cumberland river Amateur Archaeology Society. They meet once a month and they can answer almost any of your questions. They are about collecting and learning. They also occasionaly have outings to local indian mounds. A couple years ago they even participated in a dig with Dr. Gramley on a Cumberland paleo site. If you are interested let me know and I will pass along the info.

Default Arrowheads

I live down here in Alabama and if you have found these and not bought them they are Knifes. I find them down here all the time. If you buy them and cannot post a picture we have no way of telling if they are fakes. I hope they are not. There is nothing as sorry as a person who sells fakes!!!! BEAR

Of course a picture saves a thousand words but under the circumstances I think I see what I call a scraper or maybe a blunt (a broken point resharpened to make a thumb scraper (etc).

Not For Sure Until Pictures Are Posted, Roger
