Default Building My first Display

Not long after starting to collect these It was brought to my attention that along Buffalo shores they was taking the poles down. So I asked the Buffalo Police department if I could take the arms for a display. They explained I would have to get permission from the railroad. So I contacted The ICE railroad and was passed along to Jim M. After a few contacts I received permission to remove the arms. All the glass had already been taken by the time I was told about them. But again here are some photos showing the poles on the ground, Then in the Van. also one of me cleaning the pins. Yep I tore them down cleaned them sealed them then put them back together. and a few of them through a ice storm turn snow storm. Enjoy Joe

Want to add that we just had this garage built 24x30 the month before, and the older son and I had just put the fence up and laid the patio stones. The insulators is like the finishing touch to the fence. As you can see there is not much room there for anything. so this worked out perfect.
A train approaches as we haul cross arms up to the van.

We arrive home with enough arms to do the job and a few for parts.

Cleaning the old wood pins. a few coats of sealer, Cut to lenght and there ready to mount.

Two done and three to go.

Now an ice storm blows in and it was bad. Just after that it snows.

Ever take any photos while at work ? That had to be cool. I've always thought about applying at the UP railroad. But not sure about having to travel around all the time. What railroad did you work for? Have any connections
Just a block over is the power company's repair truck pin. I've always wanted to stop and ask if they would save all the insulators for me to look at before they pitch them. Just haven't built up the nerve to ask .

You should ask...You never know and they might give you the answer you want..I would try it..Maybe they are going to get rid of them and you can save them some time and work cleaning out the area...Buster...
