Default 500..clad quarter..proud father..lil digger

i have been trying to make master digger for some time. i thought i would make a fast post and be done with it. well last weekend, sunday to be exact something happened that inspired me to take my time because i wanted to document a certain event and i realised i would use my 500th post to do that. this may seem a lil off topic but when all is said and done i hope you good people see my point.

My work days are very hectic. even on my days off from my regular full time job i end up doing odd jobs for neighbors to make ends meet. So my family time is very important to me. since b4 we had children, sundays were always our days. phone off the hook, no diturbances... just us. now that we have kids its even more important. i get up early go do a couple quick odd jobs then return home as kids are getting out of bed. then its off to do what we want to do... either crabbin and saltwater fishin or dirt fishin.

when we go to the tot lots my boys will follow behind me and watch as i dig. my oldest son (thomas,6) runs off to play. My youngest (sam,4) will wonder off for lil bit but he always returns and watches me. as it turns out much closer than i ever imagined.

my wifes mother is at home under hospice care. last sunday my wife had to sit with her it put a slight dent in our plans for family day. THE BOYS WANTED TO GO "MEDAL TECTUN" AND SO DID "DADDY"!!!!

I get our machines ready... i figured i could at least go hunt my inlaws yards, see the misses and have fun with the boys.

sammy likes the prizm 3 very much. as soon as i had the 6000DI up and running he, like my wife, laid claim to the prizm. since it is "his machine" he wanted to carry it outside. we get outside and when i am almost to the truck i see a light on in the window. I come back in the house to turn off the light. when i go back out i hear the prizm beepin. i turn the corner and sam looks up at me."Daddy i found money" he says. i smile and say "its probably junk sam" "no daddy its money" he replies. i take the machine and sweep the spot. Quarter, Quarter, Quarter. i know the machine well enough that if it says quarter with out changing its a quarter. 4 inches the meter says. i ask sam how he knew its money. being 4 and just learning coin value he points to the display and says the machine says its moneys....I CANT ARGUE WITH THAT...

Sam get down and start grabbing dirt and swinging it over the coil. he has watched me do this thousands of times. but his lil fingers just cant get the right handful. so i do help him dig it... but the find is HIS.

some may be thinking its "just a clad quarter". but to me it is so much more. it is his very first find by himself. he found it when he was 4 years old. this lil clad quarter is put up. my wife put it away. when sammy has been doing this for 50 years (i will be in my 80s) he can always look at that first quarter and hopefull come back and read these post in some future high tech archive and say "WOW my daddy was proud of me"

NOW TO GET TO THE POINT...
We never know when some one is paying close attention to us. do things right every time and you never know when a new detectorist will be born just by watching you.

ok with that being said my memeber anouncement... we will be having a new member here on TQ. look for post from lilsaminSC. i will be helping him with his post

and oh yeah i am now a

MASTER DIGGER

happy huntin yall

You could not have used your 500 post on a better subject or post. Pat the little one on the back for me. WTG.

Nice job, proud papa!! I'm proud of him, too. My first find was a dime, so he's already better than I am

Welcome to the lil digger (Sam) and to the master digger Daddy Bill. Isn't it amazing to your children grow right in front of your eyes. Mine are now all teenagers and I still learn new things about them everyday. That is a nice story thanks for sharing. Looking forward to reading Sam's post best of luck to whole detecting family.
