Default Clad For Cancer

Hi Everyone:

In October, my 16 year old daughter and I will be participating in the Philadelphia 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. We will be walking 20 miles a day for 3 days...60 miles total...in efforts to raise money and awareness. And in case you're wondering why: I currently have 5 members of my family (one sister and four cousins) who are battling breast cancer. I'm also doing it in the hopes a cure will be found and I'll never have to go through this with my own daughter.

To date, Rachel and I have raised $1600...but we need to raise $5000. We've been coming up with various ways to raise donations and our latest, since I got my detector, is "Clad For Cancer" - something you may have noticed in my sig line. It's simple - all the money I find while detecting is going into a can and will be donated towards our efforts.

I've already had several PM's on how to help and Greg has very kindly allowed me to make a general post, as well as making a generous donation on behalf of TQ. If you'd like to contribute, there are several ways:

Donate your clad for cancer: PM me with a breakdown of the clad you'd like to throw into the can. I'll keep a tallied amount in my sig line for all to see, you're welcome to do this also. (I'll change the title to TQ Clad for Cancer). At the end of September (or whenever you like) you can just send me a check or money order for the amount you've pledged.

Direct donation: you are welcome to go to my website at By Invitation Only Custom Invitations and Announcements and click on the pink ribbon on the left navigation bar. This will take you to our breast cancer pages which will give you information on how to donate directly online. We do ask that if you choose this method that you check out the totals for my daughter and myself and donate towards whichever of us has the least. We are unable to share our donations and we each need to raise an equal amount. (If in doubt, please ask). If donating online isn't your thing, please PM me your name and address and I'll send you a donation form and you can mail your check or money order in.

Purchase a "Card for Cancer" or other breast cancer item on my website and all proceeds of the sale will be donated towards our walk.

Sorry this is so long, but I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Don't forget...our walk takes place in October, so any donations need to be in by the end of September.

Thank you, from both me and my daughter, from the bottom of our hearts!!

Default Awesome Work

on you and your daughters part! I will count my clad up later today and PM you tonight or tomarrow. I wish you's well on your walk for such a great cause. I also have a coffee can with a bunch of change in it that will boost my clad a little bit as my clad count is not to big but my coffee can is.

Good Luck Rikki

Default God Bless ya

I had a cancer scare a few years back. at 33 i wasnt ready for that kind of news. NO ONE IS AT ANY AGE. The selfless act of donating your finds is awsome. the fact that your daughter is helping in this endeavor speaks volumes of not just her character but yours as well (you raised her). It is a GREAT THING YOU ARE DOING. The misses and i will contribute. her mother is bed ridden at home under hospice care right now. this is an important subject to us both. God bless ya maam.

I applaud your drive and determination, and your giving spirit (your daughter's also). My husband and I are both unemployed, so I am not able to give right now, but I will be praying for you (and the cause of course--both my mom's parents died from cancer when I was too young to remember them). If my financial circumstances change, you can count on my help.

In addition to working toward a very worthy cause, the walk itself will be a great experience for you and your daughter. When my daughter was about that same age she and I walked in the March of Dimes Walk America. It was a great opportunity to really talk with Nancy.

Sorry I'm late in responding...it's been rather a busy weekend. First, the birth of my new granddaughter, and then the untimely death of my pc...so between visits to the new baby and the purchase of a new system...time marches on...

Anyway - I just wanted to thank each of you for your support - whether it's through donations and/or encouragement, I'm overwhelmed by the generosity.

My daughter and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I will be PM'ing each of you....

Default Update...

First I want to say thank you to Debbie for allowing me and my daughter to raise money for our breast cancer walk in her honor!!

Second I want to thank everyone who has pledged money to our walk. Though I haven't received all the money yet, just by totaling up what has been promised to us so far we've managed to raise an additional

$250.00
...and the pledges are still coming in - so look for that figure to rise! I'm overwhelmed by the generosity and honored by the support and friendship everyone here is showing. Bless you all!

If you haven't had the chance to PM me your home address so that I can send you a donation form, you have till the end of this month. If I already have your address, your donation slip is on its way!

Again...thank you!!

Rikki and Rachel
