Default The Gators were out today

Hope it's okay to post completely off topic here.
But for me this goes close in hand to detecting.
Although can't detect here, the history and being outside is half the fun.

Enjoyed Brazos Bend State Park today. In Brazoria county just outside of Houston.
Hot. Humid. But very enjoyable.
Go there quite often and first time to use the digital camera here.
Definitely some improvement needed. But will get used to outdoor pics.

Generally enjoy couting the alligators we see. Today we saw 46 and 6-8 baby aligators.
The mama gator wouldn't let us too close so we could count. She's been quite aggressive protecting here babies. Having stayed in the same spot for days they put a warning sign up just for her.
The trails have gators on both sides making quite easy to get within a few feet of the gators. They are non-confrontational. Only the females tend to get aggressive during maiting season and when the babies hatch.
Other than that there is usually not much danger.
First is a small gator about 3 feet or so.
The 2 pics these guys are about 6-8 feet.
The third pic is one of my favorite as I actually caught him while walking.

The largest we saw looked to be just over 10 feet.
I'll post him soon. Including the mama and her babies.

Just wanted to share one of my favorite outdoor places that is easily accessable when I'm not detecting. Although if they would let me...........(smile)
Thankyou,
Doug

The only ones that worry me are the gators in the water along the edge of and facing the trail.
When the guys jet forward they are fast. But rarely happens.

Just a couple more pics.

Here is mama and then the babies. Hard to see,as I mentioned mama was right there and not patient with people. But I did get within 6 feet. That's still extremely close.
But you can see a few babies through the weeds.

And this is the one just over 10 feet.

Doug

P.S. Comments on the pics are welcome as I'm trying to get used to taking digital pics outside.

Holy mackerel! I wouldn't be detecting there. Great story though.

The only animal that worries me in this park are the wild pigs. Some of them are quite big.
Really big.

But it would be nice to search. they have fossils and dinosaur bones in the area. There's a bog salt dome(mine?) close by and fossils have been found there also.
