Always check holes.
I always check where others have dug on the beach and have found alot of missed change that way. It seems if they don't find it immediately they leave. I guess they are easy to dismiss a hit. Don't know why.
When going throught he sand you can have a coin in hand and not realize it. very easy to miss.
Unless they are looking for something in particular and don't care about the small stuff.

Thats what I feel when reading this thread! Thank you for putting on our good face for this Officer.

I'm glad you were able to show the Officer how it should be done and he was open enough to take it all in and see that there are people who can do the right thing.

I have also run into cases where the holes were being dug out by squirls after being filled in, and heard of playful dogs (and kids) that would re-excavate behind detectorists. There is just no end to the situations we can get ourselves into, or so it seems.

I know how you feel, when I go down to the lake I always bring a trash bag with me, I never understand it myself, people just throw there stuff all over the place.

The boat launch is the worst I can fill up a bag everytime I go down.
