Just got back ! I talked to the land owner and he says anytime i like to go ahead. So i gave it a quick look see,I'll tell ya what that extera-70 in all metal goes DEEP ! All i found was a rusty square nail about a foot and a half down. I was fightin tree roots and rocks the whole way ! I also found 2 stone markers and I'm guessing theres a third, that i beleve may mark the spot were the people were standing that were killed.I need to do a little more reasearch to get a better idea of things.I cant find anything on the factory that was supposed to be nearby or were the cannon exploded was in relation to were everyone was gathered. But anyhow I'm going to cut the grass and clean it up abit cuz ya never know when them brownie points may come in handy.

This is great! If your hunch is right, you are renewing the history of that place. Those markers may see the light of day again. I imagine that some of the metal pieces from that cannon were spread all around the area. You might get quite a few targets to check. This one might take a while. WTG, Rip!

Well it's lookin like i need to get permission to hunt the other side of the road. There was a factory and schoolhouse on that side and i think this is were most people were gathered. There was mention of a "grove" that i have yet to locate also.I whent there yesterday and weedwacked an area around the mounument,Im goin back today with a cordless sawsall to knock back some of the sapplings that are starting to take over.I probanly wont do much searching here till spring as i have better sites lined up,I hope.
