Thanks for the post, Dave...I'm so glad you're okay, but sorry to hear about your cousin. Makes me think I should make an appt. for my hubby to get a physical soon. Don't know the last time he had one. He always claims in his line of work he's in top shape, but I'm going to be just paranoid enough to make certain - especially since he turns 50 in January.

My Husband had no warning signs just dropped at 40 years old I work in the medical field and because of his age thought he had food poison that day. Statistic show that men in their thirtys and fortys don't usually survive a heart attack. I for one am glad that Gordon and you beat the odds. Thanks for the post.

Wow, This post has really hit home. I am new to MD, and still learning where to post, and how (sorry Gregory) but, I was at work last week, 10/23/07 and one of my fellow employees, complained about Chest Pains on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. right after he had lunch. Our operations manager was here on Thurs, and I was reaching for the phone for a 911 call, but Hal refused. He drove himself home, and then went to the E.R. He had 5 or 6? bypasses Friday night. Don't take anything for granted. Life is but a moment in time.

Thanks for posting this Dave, it's something that we should all be aware of. Glad that you survived yours and sorry to hear about your cousin.

I've had several friends my age, 52, (I can say that for a few more days) have heart attacks, they, and I'm sure like you, have changed their lifestyle and are doing very well. I heard that it should be considered a blessing that if you have one, that you have it at an earlier age because your vessels are more pliable and able to handle it better (somethig like that).
