Default Bueafort, SC

Gordon and I really wanted to make the trip to see Bigbill and Sheri, the only way we could do the drive was to make it an overnight trip. the drive there was an adventure itself, After sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, crawling down the interstate, In the pouring rain. We actually drove 6 miles in 53 minutes. Finally made it to Beaufort. Sheri met us at the Piggley Wiggley and we followed her back to the house. She had a wonderful dinner waiting on us. Lasagna and salad was great and the boys were so excited to show me there new detectors. Bill was still working and Sheri, Thomas, Sammy and one gassy dog buttons took Gordon and I on a tour of their community, Beaufort, SC Is unbelievable the old southern houses or should I say mansions are gorgeous. I said the only thing missing is Scarlett O'hara, but wait, we drove through historic downtown and guess who we saw. Yes, Scarlett herself in all her glory, giving tours to tourist. The beaches, fishing wharfs, Parris Island, and the angel oaks dressed in spanish moss were amazement for traveling yankees. After finally seeing Bill and checking out his coin collection. Gordon and I headed for the sleep inn for a good night sleep.

Today, I awoke the Bailey household with a call at 7:45. I was up and ready for a day of detecting. We started in the park across from their house then hit Mickey dees for breakfast. Off to Fort Freemont via the old Church of Peace. another unbelievable site. Fort Freemont was pretty cool but it will take many years of cleaning out to find much of anything there. We gave up and headed to Hunting Island Beach. Gordon found 3 pennies. I found 4 quarters, 7 dimes, 2 pennies and a ring. The ring is a brass mens wedding band. I could have stayed on that beach forever. But Gordon was fading fast. Sheri and the little ones had long since gotton bored detecting. After seeing the fishin pier. Gordon and I needed to head for Salley, We all had a wonderful time and can't wait to get together again.
